I’m so sorry to hear of your loss . He was a lovely man and meant the world to me with the contact through Job’s Daughters, you both did. I’m sorry I haven’t kept in touch but Linda was able to let me know of the funeral and unfortunately I couldn’t make it back for it. My thought and prayers were with you although I couldn’t be.
    Love to you all
    Chris

  • Gwen (Baird) Baldwin

    Margaret, Lorie, Valerie and family,

I am sorry to hear of Bill’s passing and I will be thinking of you on
Saturday as you remember him with your friends and family.

While looking for something else today I happened to come across a photo of Bill and Marg at a Job’s Daughters function and remembered many fun times. I will always remember the meeting where Bill didn’t have a word of wisdom for us and we all thought it odd. It turned out he was listening to an important hockey game via an earphone with a transistor radio in his pocket

    Gwen.

  • Patricia (Hopkins) Ogden

On behalf of the children of William O. & Margaret Hopkins, I would like to express our condolences to you, Margaret, and your family. When both Mom and Dad were alive, they talked so fondly of the both of you, Dad so enjoyed and respected working for and with Bill. We heard only good things. Warren, my husband, and I so enjoyed visiting you and Bill on one of our trips to the Island. I have to thank the McEvoy’s for keeping me posted. Thinking of you in this difficult time, it’s 1 year ago on Aug. 10 that my sister lost her husband to Early Onset Alzheimer’s and will be 1 year on Nov. 24 since Dad passed away and he also lost his youngest brother in May. The year 2013 was a difficult year for our family, but as time passes on, our memories take over and it becomes easier day by day.

  • Deanna Simpson

Very sorry to hear of Bill’s passing.

We met your family when we first moved to Victoria in the 70’s. My Dad worked with Bill. Our families visited at our lot up at Shawnigan Lake in the summertime. My parents enjoyed lunches and visiting regularly, in Sidney and Victoria.

Thinking of you all during this very difficult time.

    Deanna Simpson.

  • Ed Witherden

Bill and I trained together in 1948/49 and, in fact, were sparring partners in gym classes. After graduation we were posted to different parts of Canada and got together only once about 2 years ago when I tried to organize a reunion. At that time he was still the great guy I remember from our training days. My condolences go out to his family.

  • Doug Henderson

Bill was a great gentleman and I shall miss him. He gave me good advice over the years and I shall treasure that.

  • Lorne Newson

Bill was liked and respected. He will be missed.
