November 15, 1916 – December 6, 2014

We are saddened to announce the passing of Violet Christine Flumerfelt on December 6, 2014 in her 99th year.  Born November 15, 1916 in Regina, Saskatchewan to parents Arthur and Elizabeth Allen and stepmother Dorothy Allen.  Predeceased by her brothers Henry and Norman and sister Doris Ruemper.  Survived by sister-in-law Doris Flumerfelt, many nieces and nephews, Fred and Marcella La Forge and their daughters, Renee and Louise.  Also, a special thank-you to Peggy McFayden and Lori Bottoms for their great care and attention to Vi over the last several years.

Vi was married to the love of her life, Burton Emerson Flumerfelt (deceased) for 54 years.  The first 35 years of their marriage were spent in Ottawa, before moving to Victoria, BC for their retirement years in 1985.  Vi was a fun, vivacious, energetic lady who always loved a good joke.  While in Ottawa, Vi belonged to the RCMP Ladies Curling Club and was a Past President and Life Member.  She enjoyed needlepoint and knitting, making many sweaters for charity, which earned her a CFAX 1070 Citation Award.  Special appreciation to Comfort Keepers for the kind and gentle care they provided in Vi’s last weeks.  Condolences may be offered below.

I will miss my visits with Vi. For many years I have been Vi”s visiting elder from St Andrew’s Presbyterian church, she had a great sense of fun. For many years she was an active member of St Andrew’s , a lot of her friends speak fondly of her spirit. Early on the 6th,I had a prayer, and brought her a wee Christmas poinsetta. She had a great innings, and is in a better place with her love Bert. Fondest memories to all Vi’s extended family, and friends- love David McLean St Andrew’s Victoria.

We will miss a great lady, but will be happy for her as she joins her love Bert. She and Bert will not be forgotten by the Help Fill A Dream Foundation that they helped build. They both were instrumental in getting this organization started and i know would be pleased to see its success today in our community. Our thanks to you both.
Forever in our hearts and memories, Barry George and all the volunteers at Help Fill A Dream
