1916 – 2015

Thora was born in Victoria, as was her mother. She left us quietly and comfortably on July 10. Thora was predeceased by her husband, Dave and her son, David. She leaves behind her daughter, Kathleen; daughter-in-law; son-in-law; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A gentle, loving successful career Mom, Thora lived a full and satisfying life which included taking the reins as head of the household when her husband was away for extended periods sailing on the ‘Grey Funnel Line’ (R.C.N.). She will be greatly missed by the entire extended family leaving a ‘hole’ walking around in that close knit group. The family extends sincere thanks to the Glengarry staff for the wonderful care that Thora received during the last two years of her life.

A Memorial Service will be held in McCall’s Floral Chapel, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 20, 2015. No flowers by request. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

HI. I’m sorry to hear that Thora and Dave passed away. My mother is Eleanor Crowe and she passed away a few years ago in Nanaimo. Her father was John “Jack” Crowe. Jack’s father was Arthur John Crowe and his mother was Ada May. My mother left us family geneology records and photos, including a family at the beach photo labelled Uncle David, Dave Jr, Kathleen, and “Thelma” which may actually be Thora. I would be happy to chat with you and if these are indeed your family photos, I will be happy to provide copies of everything I have. I live in Nanaimo. Feel free to contact me. Regards,

My condolences to all the family. I have fond memories of our weekday lunches and meetings. She was a fine lady and I admired her style and grace. May she now truly rest in peace. Sandra Merino

I was very saddened to hear of Auntie Thora’s passing. I have such loving memories of our family’s time together and so grateful for passing along to me her loving gift of gardening and joy of cooking. We send our love and prayers that you and your family will find solace in the months to come knowing that you helped make her life abundant. Mae Ridout, Suzette and Dave Young
