With great sadness, we announce the passing of Meryl, age 90, long time resident of Victoria; daughter of George and Grace Stebbing of Nanaimo.  Predeceased and reunited with her loving family, husband, David (DWC) (1992) and sons, Craig (2012) and Brent (2009).  Meryl is survived by her grandsons, Ieuan (8) and Madoc (5); daughter-in-law, Joelene (Paul); nieces and nephews in England; cousins, Bill (Marie) and close friends in Victoria.  Meryl was an avid knitter, enjoyed reading about the Royal family and kept abreast of local news.  With the passing of Craig, Meryl’s world changed forever.  May she finally rest in peace.  Heartfelt thanks to the staff of Parkwood Court for their kindness and understanding towards the daily care of Meryl.

An afternoon tea to remember Meryl will be held in McCall’s Reception Centre, Johnson & Vancouver Streets from 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm on Friday, November 28, 2014.  Interment at Ross Bay Cemetery will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, hug a loved one – for tomorrow may not be!

I was saddened to hear of Meryl’s passing. I have fond memories of taking my Mom to visit Meryl when she was home from Australia visiting me over many years, and latterly when she came home to live, what turned out to be the last five years of her life here with me. I remember long chats with Meryl for many years and her support to me when my Mom passed away 5 years ago. I am comforted in knowing that Meryl is now at peace after all the sadness she endured over these past several years. My sympathies to Joelene and the boys as well as other family members and friends. Time on this earth is short…live life to the fullest everyday and leave with no regrets and no unfinished business.
