Susan Suk Harn Chan (nee Cheung)

In Memorial

CHAN, Susan Suk Harn (nee Cheung) Born Nov. 1923, Guangzhou, China Died Sept. 2009 Victoria, BC She is predeceased by husband Roy S.T. Chan, MM in 1998 and survived by sons Neal and Arnold, sisters Mrs. Suk Fun Tam (Guangdong Province) and Mrs. Suk Yee Chan (N. Ireland) and honorary daughter Jessica Huang. She is remembered for her gentle welcoming smile and quiet strength as a faith holder and prayer warrior for Christ. She was influenced by her Lutheran minister father in China who pastored up to four churches at a time. She trained as a mid-wife in China before coming to Canada. She was a strong supporter of her extended family (Cheung/Chan/Ip) as well as Bible studies and fund raising at the local Chinese Pentecostal and Presbyterian churches from 1956 2009. She is sorely missed by her sons as a loving Mother, faithful wife to Dad, a spiritual inspiration, avid reader, and as a dear sister-in-law by Alice Chen. The family wishes to thank Dr A. Perera and Mother’s physiotherapist M. Kirby who helped Mother cope with her chronic back pain. Funeral service will be held October 2 from 1:00 to 3:00 at McCall Bros. Funeral Chapel, Johnson & Vancouver St., Victoria BC with Rev. L. Wan and Rev. J. Ip. In lieu of flowers donations in Susan’s name may be made to the Chinese Pentacostal Church and Victoria Hospice Society, 1510 Fort Street, Victoria, BC, V8S 5J2.

I never had the opportunity to meet your Mother but if you two are any indication of her love and guidence, than she was so proud of her sons. She is now with God and is sharing His love with your Father.

Aunt Susan was a woman of faith. She loved her Lord Jesus Christ with a passion. She loved reading her bible and shared her faith with others. Heaven has a new addition. My life has not been
the same because of her influence.
