FIELD, Stanley Gordon (known as Jonathan)  Passed away peacefully on December 14, 2013 at the Royal Jubilee Hospital (RJH) after a lengthy illness with Parkinson’s. Jonathan was predeceased by his first wife Phyllis, his long time partner Barbara, and the final love of his life, Trudy. Jonathan will be greatly missed by his son Garry and brother John in England and dear friends.

Jonathan was born August 19, 1932 in England. He joined the British Army as a radio operator at the age of 19. He served in Korea and was very proud of his service with the military. After this time with the army, Jonathan worked for many years as a sales representative with J. Lyon’s tea company in England. Jonathan immigrated to Vancouver in 1958, worked with Dairyland as a salesman and then transferred with the company to Victoria. Jonathan’s final career was as an Antique Dealer at Hibernia Antiques on Fort Street’s Antique Row. Through this, he was able to pursue his lifelong passion for collecting military items. Jonathan learned to sail with his beloved wife Trudy and this brought them much joy. When Trudy became ill, Jonathan sold his antique business to care for her until her passing. All who knew him knew this shy man for his kind and gentle nature.

Thank you to the fourth floor nursing staff at the RJH for the dedicated and amazing care of Jonathan.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Victoria Hospice Foundation.
