It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ross Tuck. Ross was a kind, considerate and generous man. His humour and entrepreneurial nature, combined with his rich character, gave him a full and prosperous life.   The adventure started when he left Arkansas to join the USAF as a mechanic at the young age of 17.   During his military career, his adventures included becoming a decorated fighter pilot, and enjoying the opportunity to live and explore many different places in the world.

After his retirement from the USAF, he moved to Victoria with his family and was a successful business man in the local development and restaurant market. He loved spending time to entertain and captivate his family and friends with stories, working around the house, and playing with his grandchildren.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Vicky, and children Ross and Johanna, and four grandchildren, Logan, Liam, Rowan, and Fraser. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A gathering to remember and celebrate Ross will be held August 7, 2015 at the Deep Cove Chalet at 1 pm. We ask that you call and confirm your attendance with the Deep Cove Chalet. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

I wish to express my condolences to the Tuck family. As former CFO and CEO of the Provincial Capital Commission, I had the pleasure of getting to know Ross through his ownership of Milestones at the Visitor Info Centre, as the PCC was the building owner. Ross was a sharp businessman, and I appreciated his knowledge, expertise and passion for success in a demanding customer driven service industry. I have utmost respect for his success, given few in the restaurant business can make that claim over time. Our relationship was very cordial, and enjoyed our lunch and business meetings. We always got to yes on business issues, and treasured that he trusted me sufficiently to share his occasional rant on a subject that was a bee in his bonnet.

The PCC was dissolved by govt in early 2014, at a time when Ross’s health was challenging him. For a person who loved to be active, I can imagine how tough it was for both him and your family to face one health issue after the next. I have not been in contact with him for about a year, so most sad to hear his health continued to deteriorate. I can only hope that he is at peace now and free from health problems was enduring.

I will treasure my memories of our business relationship and wish your family well.

To paraphrase the Air Force song— He lived in Fame, but went down in—a fall!—and there went our chances for one more fly-by…a chance to re-live our favorite stories of life in Spain, of skiing at Whistler, of trans-continental Christening of God-daughter Johanna, of weddings/cavortings at Towner Park Rd., of long-distance medical consultations, of late-life grandparenting—Ross, THANKS for the Memories that can only be had via GREAT FRIENDSHIP!!! Fly high and straight to your well deserved heavenly landing pad—VFR all the way, baby!! Our Love to Vicky and the whole family, Jack & Carroll Haydon
