May 9, 1956 – April 27, 2015

Shawnigan Lake, BC

Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 12th, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Shannon Hall, Cloverdale Rodeo Grounds in Surrey, BC.

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Bob/Leo.

Bob/Leo was first a beloved son to Jean and George Davidson (deceased); brother to Pat (Tom) Carveth, Ian (Sherry) Davidson; father to Karen (Travis) Andrews; Grandfather to Julia; soul mate, husband and best friend to his wife, Hedy; brother-in-law to Claire (Tim) Blom-Campbell;  son-in-law to Denise Blom.  He also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.

Bob/Leo was raised in Victoria, but, moved to Vancouver in the early 80’s to pursue his career in the Roofing industry.  He found success and satisfaction as he grew in the industry, eventually taking on more and more leadership roles.    When the time came for retirement, he found projects that occupied him completely: Motorcycling and tracing his Family Tree.  Both provided him much satisfaction and relaxation.  And winning at Wizard.

When illness came into Bob/Leo’s life, he was gifted with the most incredible caregivers.  All of his health supporters were amazing; but, those named here went the extra mile and beyond .  We are very grateful for GP, Dr. Derek Lowe; surgeon and cherished Health advocate, Dr. Charudute Shete;  Patient Care Coordinator, Nurse Michelle Fisher; Home Health Nurse, Brenda Knowles; and his sister, Pat, who dropped everything to be by her brother’s side every time he had a new health challenge.   Words cannot say thank you enough.

We are grateful to have had the (almost) 59 years that he shared with us all.   He was a man of great integrity, pure tenacity and fairness.  A bright light has gone out in our lives.  He will never be forgotten.

A celebration of Bob/Leo’s life will be held in mid-June in Surrey or Langley.  Details will follow.   Please, no flowers.  Instead, put out an act of kindness in the world around you.  Pay forward something that will impact a life.  Remember him well by caring for your loved ones just a little closer.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

  • Kathy Scott (nee Officer)

So sad it was to learn about Leo in the newspaper today. I remember the times the gang (me, Sue, Paul, Adrienne, Leo and a bunch of others at any given opportunity) used to go nuts enjoying ourselves and laughing like crazy in whatever adventure we designed or fell into … all up and down the Island when we all lived in Victoria. I’ll never forget his cigarettes and mints…those 2 simply HAD to go together! Hedy – I never got to meet you but if I know Leo, you are no doubt a wonderful lady – I wish you and your family every strength at this time.

  • Carol

A prouder man I never knew with a strong and beautiful devoted wife loving him eternally. I shall remember Leo with a sparkle in his eye and that gigglish laugh. Those will be my thoughts of a good and devoted husband and father. My heart pours out to Leo’s family in this time of sorrow.

  • Darcey Millar

The best piece of advice Leo ever gave me is “Do what YOU want to in life. Be fair, be honest, and be happy!”. I’m paraphrasing of course. He was far more colorful in his language than that. But that was the basic point of what would be the last time I spoke to Leo. Great man. Lived big, loved lots.

Hedy, not really sure what to say, but I know that you lost your best friend, and lifelong companion. My heart goes out to you. Take care.

And goodbye Leo. May you rest well.

  • Joe Pelliccia

Leo was and still is an inspiration to me. He put his faith in me and provided a clear headed gift of confidence and maturity… But most of all, a friendship that I will cherish for the rest of my life. He embraced my family and reminded me how important my kids and my wife are and to live every moment enjoying such things taken for granted so often.

The Pelliccia family loves you and misses you Leo… Hedy we are so sorry for your loss.

What an amazing human being. Xoxo

I met Leo through golf many years ago and knowing we will never be on the course together again is profoundly sad. Leo was a class act, generous beyond compare, funny, passionate, and an all round nice guy. Leo had the worst slice I’ve ever seen but was never discouraged by it, he simply aimed 60 degrees left of where he wanted the ball to go and as if by magic it curved onto the target line.
Leo, I’ll miss you each year on our summer tour. Goodbye, rest well my friend, you’ll never be forgotten.
My most sincere condolences to Hedy and the family.

  • Marieke Bootsman

Hedy and Family, my heart goes out to you all at this time of sorrow. Hedy, I met you so many years ago at Surrey but you and Leo stuck in my mind. But just know you two are always in my heart. Love and prayers and many many hugs. Lucy
