    Dear Harriet,

We send our sincere condolences to you and your family. Robert was such a kind, thoughtful gentleman during the many years we attended SJTD. Robert was always waiting at the bottom of the stairs, after we took communion. He could be counted on to offer his arm getting down the stairs AND his wonderful smile.
He was a man of great faith and it was an honour to know him.

God’s blessings to you and may you remember all the dear things he did.

  • John Froess

    Dear Kendrick family,

I met your husband, father and grandfather in 1985 when I was a student in the Faculty of Education at UVIC. Mr. Kendrick (as I always called him) was an influential mentor to me, through his positive, respectful guidance and his willingness to convey his experience as a long-time educator. As my UVIC sponsor, Mr. Kendrick guided me through my six week practicum. His advice was always helpful and supportive, his manner quiet-spoken and kind. He was a wonderful man, one who I have never forgotten throughout my 28 year teaching career. I cannot imagine how many other new teachers he impacted throughout his career.

Please accept my condolences with his passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

    Sincerely,

    John Froess

On behalf of 3 of the 4 Nation siblings ( Peter, Deborah and Michael ) who were taught English Literature @ OBSS by Mr Kendrick in the mid to late 60’s , i send our condolences on his death. For me Thea, ( i was Deborah in those days ) in particular, the obit brought back many memories. He ignited my love of reading and i remain an avid one to this day. He was a wonderfully warm and gracious human being treating us as the young adults we were , with respect and intelligence. His teaching style was entertaining and engaging .He and i had an excellent relationship , so much so that i invited him to my 21 st bday party which he and his wife attended along with my other favourite teacher Ron Edmonds ! He was a fine fellow – May he Rest in Peace. Kind regards Thea Nation
