June 7, 1922 – February 26, 2014

Mum’s dash was full of wonderfuls: School sweetheart Donald Ian, Admirals Road neighbours, caring staff at Ayre Manor and The Priory, snowdrops, mousetrack or shell hunting along the beaches, ballroom dancing, left-handed bowling, mystery drives with the Great Aunts or grandma to explore Victoria’s backroads, a good rye & 7, daily doggie walks, ATVing with Bruce, reading historical fiction and occasionally romance novels, Thrifty’s Sendial, spontaneous conversations with tellers and friendly strangers, daytime radio-talk and nighttime game shows, Metchosin Lagoon at Christmas in falling snow, swans, WWII Hamilton munitions, conservatory piano-lessons, granddogs, her ‘3 on the tree’ Rambler, summer tenting holidays, Portage Inlet skating and swimming, garden fresh peas.

Gloria and Gordon and Bruce will remember her, a proud Victoria girl, her sweetness and her happiness.

Instead of flowers or a service, raise a glass to toast absent friends.  Live your dash!

  • Shirley (We Care Home Health Suport)

I only knew Phyllis from being a health care worker for her neighbour Bill MacLean on Admirals road. He often spoke highly about Phyllis and what a wonderful neighbour she was. I think she would often send over baked goods for Laura and Bill.
One day it was bitterly cold and the MacLeans were out when I arrived and so I was going to sit in the car and wait. I saw Phyllis at the window beckoning me over. I went over and she invited me into her house to wait. What a wonderful woman, so caring and thoughtful.
Your rememberence for your mom was so wonderful, just like her.
My deepest sympathy and I’m sure Bill MacLean would say the same.
