February 10, 1934 – 2015 Pointe Verde, Newfoundland

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Patrick Walsh on Friday May 1, 2015 in Victoria after a lengthy illness.   Patrick is survived by his beloved wife Sylvia of 58 years, sons Patrick Jr., David, daughter Kelly (Dustin), three grandchildren Shane (Leina), John Paul (Gabrielle), one year old Grayson and Victoria his great granddaughter. He will be missed by a multitude of exceptional friends. Patrick left Newfoundland at age 17 and worked in the Federal Government as a Refrigeration/Air Conditioning Technician. He retired in November 1990 in Ottawa and came to Victoria in 1991. He loved his family first and foremost and he always had a soft spot for any of our furry four-legged friends.  In fact, he was well known to sneak a few stray cats and rabbits into the household. Pat is surely looking down on us smiling with beer in hand and doing the newfie jig.

A special thank you for the loving care he received from the Staff at the Oak Bay Kiwanis Pavilion. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to either the Kiwanis Pavilion or the Alzheimer’s Association.

A Celebration of Patrick’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion 91,    Station Road, Langford on Monday, May 11, 2015 at 1.00 pm.  Condolences may be offered to the family at McCall Bros. Funeral Home web site below.

    Sorry about the late condolence.
I worked with Pat at Ag Canada as I was also a Refrigeration Mechanic there.
Pat definitely kept the atmosphere positive and always had a good laugh for everyone.
Great guy and please accept my sincere condolences.

Sylvia and family…… We were so sad to hear of Patrick’s passing. We have so many memories of him, visiting in Point Verde. The many trips at mom’s and dad’s (Bea and Gus). Dad passed away four years ago. I think they were great buddies in their young days. May they be having their beer and dancing a Newfie jigg with all their buddies in Heaven.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers as you go through this sad time together as a family. Hold on to your wonderful memories. May Patrick Rest In Peace.

Sylvia and Family – I was so sorry to learn of Pat’s passing. It must be such a terrible loss for all of you. I have fond memories of our days in Agriculture Canada at “The Farm” in Ottawa. Pat was so funny all the time, always with a story to tell. Such a true Newfoundlander! I was so happy for you both when you decided to move to Victoria for your retirement and I’m sure you’ve both enjoyed many years of happy memories. I know how much Pat loved to fish for that salmon! You are in my thoughts at this sad time and I wish you peace as you live with fond memories of your lives together.

    Sylvia and family,

I was devastated to hear the news about Pat. He was an exceptional man, as you already know! It seems like just the other day we would all be hanging out, having a great time laughing and chucking fun at everyone!

I hope you are doing as well as can be. I know that so many emotions are with you now, but I sure hope that you all realize that the great memories of him will live on in ourselves. It’s his family and friends now that are feeling the pain. He is resting in peace and probably shooting the shite with someone over a couple of brews!
