  1. Rob Seal and Joan Robinson on January 28th, 2010 2:21 pm

    Dear Angela and Austin,

We are so sorry to learn of the sudden passing of Pat.

I always enjoyed visiting with him at anesthesia meetings. Perhaps the most fun was at the ASA in San Francisco in October 2000 when he and I kept runing into each other throughout the city…it was obvious that I was skipping out on the meeting.

There are so many memories…all of them great. I will never forget the gorilla suit!

I wish that I could be with you on Saturday.

    Sincere condolences,

    Rob and Joan

  2. Gordon Sellery on January 28th, 2010 2:29 pm

I knew Patrick as a very loyal and supportive “honorary” member of our organizing committee in the lead up to the World Congress of Anaesthesiologists in 2000. My impression was that he played a major role behind the scenes in supporting Angela”s leadership roles in the CAS and the WFSA. I extend my sympathy to Angela and their son Austin on the passing of Patrick.

I don’t ever remember him without his camera. He had a great sense of humour and was a wonderful supporter of many good causes.
We’re sorry we cannot be with you on Saturday but you will be in our thoughts and prayers.

    Sincerely,
    Brendan and Donna Finucane

  14. WFSA Education Committee on January 30th, 2010 4:54 am

Not only the Canadian Society, but anesthesiologists from all over the world, fell the huge loss by Pat’s death.

He was like an extra member of the WFSA Education Committee, by supporting us in all activities.

Many are those anaesthesia providers, be it physicians or clinical officers, all of the world, that have been supported by him personally, not only as an appendix to Angela.

(Pat has also been a role model for other husbands by being so strong in himself that he proudly was able to share the mission which was primarily his wife’s.)

We all feel that an important part of our resources is gone. But not – he will continue be an inspiration for us all to go on and continue our mission to improve anaesthesiology in the world.

All of us in the WFSA Education Committee would have liked to be in Victoria for the funeral today. Although that is not possible, you shall know that we will be there in our hearts, from all over the world.

    WFSA Education Committee

  17. Bob Anderson on January 30th, 2010 11:07 am

To Angela and family; please accept our condolences on your loss. Pat was a good friend in my early years as a young Rotarian in Saskatoon. Always helpful to others, and with that quick Irish humour, for me, he embodied many of the attributes Rotarians should represent.

I recall during his years in Saskatoon, Pat demonstrated his love for sweet things. When rice and raising pudding was on the dessert menu at Rotary meetings, Pat would delight in helping himself to several portions, for which he would often be fined by the Seargent. With an Irish twinkle in his eye he would dig deep and flip a loonie into the basket, while quipping how such pleasures were well worth it!

May he rest in peace now and forever.

Sincerely – Bob and Barb Anderson, Saskatoon
