Sylvia Eleanor Clark, only child of the late Charles Bertram and Grace Eleanor Tallack, both immigrants from Cornwall, England, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 at her Victoria home on May 25, 2016 after a long and fulfilling life. Sylvia was born on August 10, 1928 in Victoria, where she resided her entire life.

Sylvia leaves to mourn her loving husband, David Richard Clark; sons, Daryl Arthur Paradice (daughter-in-law, Ruth) of Victoria and Russell Bertram Paradice (daughter-in-law, Martha and grandson, Danny) of Texcoco, Mexico. Sylvia is survived by long-time friends, Robin, Jean and Betty.

Sylvia was married to Arthur Sydney Paradice from 1950 until his passing in 2001. Together, they instilled in their sons the value of being decent, responsible, hardworking and noble. A few years later, during a bus tour in Europe, she met and later married David Clark of New Zealand. Sylvia and David traveled extensively after their marriage, including two Alaskan Cruises and a road trip from Victoria to Newfoundland, probably visiting every Tim Horton’s along the way. Thank you, David, for providing both love and care for our mum during this difficult time.

David wishes to thank the staff at Parkwood Place for the wonderful help given over the years. Also the great companionship and comfort from Patricia from Comfort Keepers.

There will be no service in keeping with Sylvia’s request.

  • Elizabeth D'Oliveira

    Hello,
It was with sadness that I only recently learned of Sylvia’s passing. My husband and I have not forgotten the visit she and David made with us in Kingston (Ontario) when on their cross-Canada road trip – yes, at a Tim Horton’s. And, then in 2010, we happened to met them on the Vancouver-Victoria ferry as they were returning from one of the Alaska cruises! Sylvia’s first husband, Arthur, was my Mom’s cousin (my Mom was Evelyn Johnson, nee Paradice). I remember as a child with my Dad, Mom and sister visiting Sylvia and her family in Victoria (Daryl or Russell taking the head off my “Barbie” doll!). Sylvia was very kind. I was happy to have been able to reconnect with her, and to meet David, so many years later. Although late, my condolences to the family, Elizabeth Johnson D’Oliveira.

It is my fondest hope that David find peace, friends and the motivation to help him in these difficult times . My prayers are for you.
