Randy passed away suddenly from a rare autoimmune disease. Our kind gentle soul leaves his sisters, Gayle (Dave), Nora (Gary), nieces, nephews and many dear friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at James Bay United Church, 531 Michigan Street at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 30, 2016.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to this church would be much appreciated.

Randy and I went to McTavish Road Elementary School together. He was a year or so behind me and I’m not quite sure how we became friends, but we did. He was so good about keeping in touch over the years after our paths diverged. We lost contact from time to time, but Randy somehow always found me again and renewed our connection. The last time I saw him was when he came to the memorial gathering for my mother — I was touched by his thoughtfulness and kind concern. I don’t know much about Randy’s life after McTavish, but I can’t imagine it was always easy. Whatever challenges he faced, it seems he maintained a positive outlook and he clearly made an impact on many with his kind and gentle nature. I think Randy did a lot to make the world a better place. I will miss his Christmas cards. My condolences to his family and friends.

  • Army, Navy, Airforce Veterans in Canada, Victoria Unit #12

Our sincere condolences to all of you. Randy was a gentle soul and a great supporter of the Unit. Unfortunately, after we closed, we did not see too much of him. He always enjoyed coming in for a beer and to sing at Karaokee. We shall all miss him.

In memory of Randy Pratt and his 25 years at York Manor. I have known Randy for approximately 22 years as a friend & neighbor. He lived on the same floor of my apartment building and delivered my newspaper. We cheerfully encountered each other quite often.

He will be “souly” missed. May God grant him Peace.

    Sincerely,
    Paul Haynes, #403

We were sincerely sorry to read about Randy’s passing. I knew Randy well growing up in Esquimalt, and in later years would see him occasionally while I was driving my bus. He always had a smile and a kind word.

Thinking of you all at this sad time.

Hello Gayle and Nora. Dorothy and I, and my aunts: Ruth and Hilda were sad to read about Randy. He was so faithful sending birthday, Christmas and Easter cards to my mom and aunts. Mom lives at a care facility now and every time I opened a card from Randy she always remembered him and spoke his name. We saw Randy three years ago at moms 90th birthday. He was a blessing to us all.
