Phyllis Van Leusden (Mill) passed away peacefully on January 28, 2016 at the age of 93. Phyl was predeceased by her first husband, Art Button, in 1978; by husband, Frank Van Leusden in 2009; and by her brother, Stan Mill, in 2015. She will be dearly missed by brother, Jim Mill (Shirley); by sister-in-law Barb Mill; by nieces Gloria, Kashalya, Janis, and Kathy, and by nephews Jim and Bob. She will also be missed by step-grandson, Ken.
Although Phyl was born in Saskatchewan, she was proud to say she grew up in Victoria. She spent many hours boating on coastal waters, and she loved travelling – especially cruising. Even into her 80’s, you could find Phyl and Frank at the YMCA either in the gym, or visiting friends there. At home, Phyl laboured in her garden where she grew the most beautiful hydrangeas you will ever see. Perhaps because she enjoyed life to the fullest, she courageously lived with many health issues in her later years.
We are so thankful to the staff at Glengarry Hospital in Victoria, and to Joanne of Helping Hands, for their loving care of Phyl.
There will be an informal gathering to celebrate Phyl’s life at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2016 in the Victorian Fireside Lounge at 1773 Feltham Road, Victoria B.C.
Donations to the B.C. Lung Association will be greatly appreciated.

Harry Van Leusden My Aunt Phyllis was a special lady, in the years I have known her since she & my Uncle Frank were married, we considered her to be a part of our family. Even though we lived at a distance (in Saskatoon) & saw her infrequently she will certainly be remembered and missed.
Thank you for letting me know about Phyl’s passing. I’m sorry for your loss – I know she loved her family, and I know you were good to her. Although our paths did not cross often – I often thought about Phyl and enjoyed what time we did have together. Hugs – Jean
