As graceful as in life, Nancy Anne (Code) Roseborough serenely passed away on June 18, 2016.

Born in 1932, Nancy will be remembered as daughter of late Gwyneth (Baker) and Edmund Code of Perth, ON and sister of late brothers, Peter and David Code.  She is survived by her twin sister, Jane (Code) Robertson; her husband, Frank after 61 year’s marriage; her five children, Lorne, Kimberlee, Trevor, Gwynneth, and Glen; her daughter-in-law, Shelley Osborne and three grandchildren, Victoria, Alexandra and Nicholas.

Together, Nancy’s siblings and their spouses created a special place at their cottage compound near Perth, where family values, bonds, and memories continue to be kindled by their children and next generations.

Nancy was a longtime supporter of Queen’s University, where she completed her Nursing Science Degree (‘54) and met her husband to be, Dr. G.F. (Frank) Roseborough  (Med ‘55). Nancy and Frank raised a family of five children, each born in different cities across Canada (Wainwright, Perth, London, Vancouver, and Victoria), and established their ophthalmology practice in Victoria, BC.

In 1983, Nancy and Frank renovated an old church at Shawnigan Lake BC to create the Auld Kirk Gallery, which Nancy managed and promoted works of local artists and artisans. The Shawnigan Artists Group, formed in 1990, showcased their artwork at the Gallery. The late E. J. Hughes of Cowichan Valley, Pat Martin Bates, Dorothy Oxborough and Robert Amos of Victoria were among the talented artists who contributed to Gallery showings.

Nancy was a longtime member of The Canadian Federation of University Women Victoria and served a term as President, and was a member of the Family Council of BC. She was a volunteer extraordinaire for numerous nonprofit agencies over her lifetime, as well as a superb host of social and family gatherings, and avid reader.

The family extends its warmest appreciation to the caring staff at Selkirk Place, Aston Wing.

A Celebration of Nancy’s life will held at McCall’s Downtown, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016 with a reception to follow in McCall’s Family Centre.

  • Nancy Langdale

It is with sadness that I heard of Nancy’s passing. I knew her from membership in the CFUW and as a participant in the same neighbourhood group, visited her home on the Gorge and as well, dropped in occasionally to the Auld Kirk Gallery. Nancy was a wonderfully warm, hospitable person and I am sure she will be greatly missed by members of her family. With sympathy, Nancy Langdale
