    dear Bert

Learned today of your Mom’s passing, and am saddened. She will be missed! She was such a wonderful woman. She was at the centre of community life in Cushing for so many years!! a friend to so many. I will always remember her contagious laughter and sense of humour! She was good to all of as we hung out at the ‘store’…. I can remember her letting us scoop our own ice cream in the cooler to make ice cream floats on hot summer days. How many rainy days, over many summers, did we play cards around your dining room table while she made her scrumptious donuts from scratch in your kitchen? Of course she played the organ faithfully at St. Mungos Church, sundays, weddings funerals and every other celebration. She will always be a beautiful memory. I am sorry for your loss. Hugs and Love, Doreen

  • Bonnie and George Christie

    Bert.
Bonnie and I are saddened to hear of Mary’s passing. We remember the wonderful conversations we had during our visits with her. Last fall we passed through Cushing on our way back from Quebec with Sylvia, and stopped for a photo of the store. Even on that rainy day, the memories of the life your parents put into the village at the store were still fresh in our minds.

    Please accept our condolences.

Such happy memories are surrounding me now. Those stops at her place on the drives across the country were always fun. She had a wonderful way of listening to us all and a great laugh. One Thanksgiving with your Mother in Cushing stands out as Special. Her move to Victoria was so right and you, Liz and the children added so much to her life. I’m on the wrong coast right now, but are with you all in spirit and love.

What an amazing woman your Mom was Bert. Although our part of the family didn’t get together often, visits with Auntie Mary and Uncle Vincent and you were always very special. Our Moms always enjoyed being together. Thinking of you.

Dear Bert, I have so many fond memories of visiting all the cousins in Cushing, shopping in the store and listening and singing while Aunt Mary played the piano. No matter the age, we are never really ready to say goodbye to our Mothers. It is such a loss and there will be a tremendous hole in your daily life. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
