Josip (Joe) Sajn

September 17, 1934 – November 19, 2015
Peacefully our beloved father passed away November 19, 2015 at James Bay Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Katica, married 53 years; daughter, Mary, her husband, Eric and their two daughters, Nicole and Natalie; son, Steve, his wife, Frances and their two children, Connor and Melissa. Josip’s other family members live in Croatia and Australia.
Josip was born September 17, 1934 in Donji Vidovec, Croatia. He had four brothers and three sisters and many nephews and nieces back home in Croatia and Australia. Josip immigrated to Canada in 1958 where he worked as a logger. He was married to Katica in Winnipeg in 1962. He moved to Victoria to be with his brother, Alos in 1963 where he worked with him to become a carpenter. Josip’s first child was a daughter, Mary, born in 1963 and in 1966, his son, Steve was born. In 1969, Josip proudly built his home with his friends, where he and Katica raised their children. Josip worked as a carpenter until his retirement. He lived a long life to the age of 81 and he will be missed by family and friends. A special thank you to James Bay Lodge and Dr. Miles for their care.
Prayer Services will be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at St. Leopold Mandic Croatian Church. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 25 at St. Leopold Mandic Croatian Church. Condolences may be offered to the family below.
