‘Remembered Always’
September 7, 1936 – July 18, 2016
After a long battle with ill health, it is with great sadness that the family and friends of John Carr announce his passing at 79 years of age. John is survived by his beloved wife, Beverley, of over 50 years; his two children, Tony (Laura) and Brad (Diane) Carr; grandchildren, Jonathan, Mariah and Samantha and his sister, Judy. He will be sorely missed by many other close relatives and special friends.
John lived a very full life and was always the life and soul to any gatherings, happily entertaining family and friends with his charm and musical talents. He loved to party and enjoyed boating, golfing and travelling very much with his wife and close friends. He had a successful career working for Telus that lead him to a very accomplished and comfortable life.
He will be forever in our hearts.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life for John, will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at McCall’s new location, McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive in Victoria. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory would be appreciated to the Parkinson’s Society of BC, #600 – 890 Pender Street, Vancouver, BC V6C 1J9.

There are those who fill life up —
their own, their family’s,
energizing every space
they swagger through —
and this was such a one.
From John, an insult was
mere camaraderie,
the chuckling giggle,
quick behind.
His quips and wine and toys
he shared so easily,
it might have seemed
that all was party time
and yet
there was beneath
such love of family, music,
movement, and machines
— such an exuberance —
that could sustain his body
through this final trial,
to fill life up so well
that in its absence
such an emptiness remains
as night sky when
the fireworks fade away.

Bill Irvine Dear Beverly and family,
Bernice and I send you our most heartfelt condolences on the passing of your husband, father and grandfather, Johnny.
He was always ‘Johnny’ to us when we lived next door on Quadra St., and I can attest to fact that what a great guy he was in those hot-rodding days.
Even though he was a Ford man, it didn’t seem to matter; Johnny was friendly to everyone.
Over the intervening 60 years the Carrs and the Irvines went separate ways but still remained in Victoria.
The last time we met up was one, summer day in Friday Harbor, WA. John, Bev and friends were over in his boat and we in our plane. A chance meeting I’ve never forgotten.
Like John Denver wrote in his song: “I know I’m going to hate to see it end.” — don’t we all.Billy

Mary Broughton(Musgrave) Very sorry to hear of John’s passing. I have many fond memories of John and Bev welcoming me into their home many years ago. My thoughts and prayers are with the Carr family at this most difficult time.
I am so sorry for your loss and my heart goes out to the entire family and friends.
