Gilberte Marie Malenfant died peacefully at the Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, B.C. at the age of 91. She was accompanied to the last by her good friends.  Gilberte was the oldest of a family of four girls all living in the province of Quebec.  Gilberte is survived by her two sisters, Jeanne and Germaine Malenfant, who are Sisters of Providence of Montreal as well as her youngest sister, Marie-Rose Malenfant and her five children.

Gilberte Marie was born in a strong Catholic family, in Notre-Dame-du-Lac, Témiscouata, Quebec and moved west to B.C. to minister with the Sisters of Providence in the Notre Dame Hospital in Dawson Creek where she formed many long lasting and faithful friendships. Her kindness and simplicity endeared her to many and Gilberte has maintained a close friendship with the Sisters of Providence.

Hers was a strong faith and she had a deep love of the poor and faithfully supported many charities. Gilberte was an active member of the Catholic Women’s League at St. Andrew’s Cathedral Parish and faithfully served in the 9 to 10 Club Soup Kitchen helping to care for the needy.

She was very grateful for the excellent care received at the Royal Jubilee Hospital during her stay there.
