Don and I have had such a wonderful friendship with you both. Don met George years ago in business and loved to visit Canada! Great memories of golf and fishing on Vancouver Island, and then the cruise we all got to take together from Alaska to Vancouver. Remember the little adventure we had in the boat in Ketchikan just 3 years ago…remember how drenched we got? George was our fine captain in treacherous waters! We will so miss his Canadian wit and great smile. He was a wonderful, quality, man. ‘Till we see you again, George… our love to you both.

I first met George when he was a teenager and came to Pender Island to be with his sweetheart Sylvia. Since then I have looked forward to his great smile and positive disposition. We are all saddened that he has left us too early.

Dear Sylvia and family, Our hearts and prayers are with you at this sad time. George put up a valiant fight and I know your family has made many wonderful memories in these past few years. I am sorry we are unable to attend the service, as Garry is awaiting surgery in the Jubilee, but we will be with you in spirit.

I was saddened to read of George’s passing. I knew George through my membership in the Vancouver Island Branch of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada and was proud to serve on the Executive committee with him for several years.
George was a lovely person. Although his attendance at our monthly dinner meetings became less frequent as he transitioned from purchasing to other responsibilities at Andrew Sheret, when he attended the meetings, he would always make time to catch up with his fellow members and was so genuine in his interest in our professional and personal lives.
I will always remember him standing up during the self introductions at the dinner meetings and proudly saying “George Hill, Andrew Sheret, now with ___ branches”. It never failed to bring a smile to our faces.
My thoughts are with your family.

My condolences to Sylvia and her family on the loss of husband George. For me it was the loss of a life long friend since the Central and Vic High days. We had a chance to reconnect through our school reunions and I will miss his positive attitude and great smile.

Sincere sympathy to you, Sylvia, Richard and Diana. I had the privilege to know your husband and father when we both attended Ross Bay Gospel Hall. George’s father, Ben, was our teacher for a few of those years. I have such fond memories of those days with George. Later I reconnected with George as students at Vic High. He was such an honourable person. I hope fond memories of George will comfort you in the days ahead. He truly was a sincere person. Rest in peace, George.
