Our dear mom and great-great grandma passed away peacefully at the Priory at the age of 107. She was born and raised in Victoria and attended Sir James Douglas Elementary and Victoria High then she and her twin, Jean, enrolled at the Royal Jubilee School of Nursing graduating in 1930.  In 1933, she married and had 3 children. She enjoyed the P.T.A. and was the BC rep. She was a Greater Victoria School Trustee where she was instrumental in starting sex education in the High Schools. Next, Frances joined the Juan de Fuca Hospital Society which at the time the Priory was the first member. Her first real love was her family followed by Shamrock lacrosse, the Blue Jays, flower arranging, Witty’s, Parksville, Hawaii and fishing. She was very clever, lots of fun and could foresee the future.

Frances is predeceased by her husband, Tommy, founder of Tommy’s Upholstery; parents, Jenny and Frank Moore; siblings, Elinor Hill, Jean Bothwell, Gordon Moore; son-in-law and grandson, Bernie and Gord Whitney-Griffiths. She is survived by her children, Elinor Whitney-Griffiths, Ann and Bob Harris, Doug and Sharon Thompson; grandchildren, Jeff WhitneyGriffiths, Janet & Jeff McGuire, Nancy & Jorge Moniz, Jenny Harris and Ron, Wendy & Christopher Mandorla, Darin & Amy Thompson; great-grandchildren, Danielle, Katrina (Brett), Wes, Nicola, Bailey, Maddy, Matt, Jarrod, Olivia, Joel, Ben, Adam, Matthew, Nicholas, Veronica; great-great grandson, Tyler and nephew, Gerry and Sandy Moore.

Frances’ family would like to extend a special appreciation to the staff at the Priory, Hiscock Unit, Beechwood for their love and care of our mom/grandma.  She would say “my life was peachy-keen”!

At mom’s request we are having a private family service.

    To Fran’s Family,
I want to say how special we thought she was. My Dad always loved his visits with her while watching Shamrocks Lacrosse and I guess that was my first encounter with her and Tommy. But our friendship Went on past there. She was such a special person, you just couldn’t help but love her. I stopped and had many visits with her in her home and then a few at the Priory. She did so many good things for so many, she has been missed in the community and will be in the future.
Our love goes to you her family as she would want it that way.

Sorry to hear of Mrs Thompson’s passing. She certainly saw many changes in her lifetime, and made a difference. A woman way ahead of her time. I remember her as a little girl. My father Bill Kendall had his Model Ts upholstered at Tommy’s Upholstery and said nothing but good about ithe job and Tommy! I have a Model T in my garage right now done at Tommy’s. I can remember going by Mr and Mrs Thompson’s home with my father. Today after reading her obituary did I realize the connection to Janet and Mrs Whitney-Griffiths, wish I knew the connection earlier I have to agree with Mrs Thompson’s favorite places, Witty’s, Parksville and Hawaii! Thinking of you all, may she RIP

I was sorry to hear of your Mum’s passing, but what a wonderful life she had and no doubt you will always have great memories of her. She went to the best schools in town and she certainly had her priorities in life in the right order; now she’s with the other die hard Shamrock fans that we’ve lost.
