Norberta Aguilar Lopez

June 6, 1930 – September 5, 2015

With sadness in our hearts but faith and confidence that she is in the arms of the Lord, we say goodbye to our mother, grandmother, aunt and friend Norberta (Norby) Lopez, who died on September 5, 2015 in Victoria BC. Predeceased by her 6 siblings, she is survived by her loving son, Angelicco (Penny Bauder) and her grandchildren, Elisha, Elena, Ally, and Angelica. A true heroine to her son, she survived WWII and enemy occupation of her home in the Philippines to immigrate to Canada in 1966, get established in Kingston, ON and then persevere as both Mom and Dad. She first worked in Toronto, before settling in Kingston, where she worked as a RNA at both Hotel Dieu Hospital and St. Mary’s of Lake Hospital. Determined to thrive in Canada, her strong will founded in deep faith in the Lord, overcame the many challenges of a new culture and helped many others to follow in her footsteps. She loved to travel, learn DIY skills, avidly celebrate her faith, and spend time with her family and friends. She is deeply missed by all those whose lives she touched. We are very grateful for the care and kindness from all of the doctors and nurses at VGH.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 Noon at Our Lady Star of the Sea, Belmont Park, 595 Galiano Crescent, Colwood, BC on Monday, September 14, 2015 with interment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park. Although she enjoyed flowers, the very frugal Norby would rather that you help others with a donation to your favourite charity. Condolences may be offered to the family below.
