Norah Letnes passed quietly in her sleep on May 25, 2015 at her home of many years. She was born in Birmingham, England, the second daughter of Elsie and Clifford Ridgway. Her sister, Kae, was two years older. Her brother, Harold, was born in 1940. The parents and two girls immigrated to Canada, arriving at Quebec City aboard R.M.S. Athenia, November 11, 1929 and lived in Saskatchewan, Alberta and  for most of her life in Victoria. During WW II Norah formed part of a troupe performing to entertain servicemen at Pat Bay Commonwealth Training Centre. Norah was admitted to Apprenticeship Training to become a hairdresser in 1941, and became a qualified hairdresser and worked at sundry locations before starting her own hairdressing business, Dean Heights Beauty Salon on Foul Bay Road in Victoria, which she owned and where she worked until her retirement. That business still operates at the same location. She married Gordon Letnes September 16, 1978. Gordon sadly predeceased her. She is survived by her brother and his wife, Gail, and their family, her nephew, Matthew, and his family, her late husband’s daughter, Della, and her husband Michael, and many friends. She led a full and generous life, caring for others more than herself.

A memorial service will be held at McCall’s Funeral Home on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 10:00 am.
