Mom passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends on November 4, 2014 following a brief illness. Predeceased and reunited with her loving husband, Antonio.
She leaves behind son, Renato and daughter, Carla (Alain); 2 grandchildren, Clayton and Zakk; two step-grandchildren, Nikki and Mario. Mom also leaves behind her two sisters, Manuela and Armanda; brother-in-law, Tony; many nieces and nephews and her cat, Bobbie.
Mom was born in Ponta Garcia, Azores then moved with her family to Victoria in 1974. Mom with her loving heart and kindness looked after her family the best way she knew how and never turned away anyone who needed a helping hand. She did this with a smile, grace and a hug. Mom was a very active member of her church choir and the Portuguese community.
The family would like to thank her many friends who came to visit and prayed over the last three weeks. We also like to thank the staff at Victoria General Hospital for their excellent care of our mom.
Prayers will be offered at 7:45 pm on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Our Lady of Fatima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Friday, November 7 at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Reverend Father Marinaldo Batista as celebrant. Entombment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park.

Dear Renato & Carla, Our condolences to you both, from Gordon & Elspeth Brown. I was sorry that I couldn’t be at Maria’s service on Friday, but I did want you to know that I’ve been thinking of you. It’s a while since we talked (at Fairways Market), where we’d been shopping and we had a good old gab, mostly about our grandchildren. They gave her so much pleasure. Her sisters will miss her. I remember one who sang so beautifully at Tony’s funeral. You will miss your mother. She was a fine lady. Best wishes to you both. Elspeth
