Hanzel is reunited with his “sweetie” and beloved wife at last.  Margaret passed away in her 94th year after a life well lived and well loved.    Predeceased by Hanzel, her parents William and Johanna, brother Gordon, and sister Marjorie, as well as the many siblings of Hans Lindstrom.  She will be dearly missed by her daughters Jeannette (John) Nienaber and Patricia (Larry) Linton and her five grandchildren Ryan, Darren and Sean Lucas, and Hayley and Brett Linton.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A native Victorian, she loved her city and took great pleasure in nature and being in the outdoors.  She appreciated the lovely parks and walkways of Victoria through all stages of her life.  She often stopped to admire the flowers, birds, ocean and sky, and always encouraged us to live in gratitude for the beauty around us.  An avid swimmer, traveller, and lifetime member of Royal Colwood Golf Club, she and Hanzel enjoyed a full and active life, sharing wonderful adventures together and forging many lasting friendships.   Margaret loved to read and was a skilled and passionate bridge player.   She relished live theatre and the symphony and supported these venues throughout her life.  Her bright, intelligent and sweet nature touched the lives of many, and she was a wonderful hostess.  People were always welcome in our home.  Our mother was always positive in the face of adversity, and used to say “when the going gets tough, the tough get going”.   She overcame the many physical setbacks and health challenges presented to her with a fierce determination and a strong will, which were always laced with grace and dignity.   Her positive attitude and infectious sense of humour provided a role model that is a legacy to all she encountered in life.  She was a passionate mother, wife and grandmother who loved us all unconditionally.  Mom took endless interest and pleasure in the growth and development of her children and grandchildren.  She treasured time spent to nurture her personal relationships with each of them.  She always encouraged them to be the best they could be, and joyously shared in all of their individual experiences and achievements.  She had the gift of making each one of them feel important.  We celebrate Mom’s life and know she is now free to soar with Dad amongst the eagles.

We are immensely grateful for the loving care and attention she received from the staff during the past two years at Mount St. Mary Hospital, particularly her special caregivers in Burdett House.

No public service at Mom’s request.  The family will hold a private service and gathering at a later date.  Flowers gratefully declined.  Donations may be made to Mount St. Mary Hospital Foundation or the charity of one’s choice in Mom’s name.

We were saddened to learn about your mother’s sudden passing. My mother Louise shared a table with her at Mount St Mary’s and she will be missed. We often chatted as I came and went. I’ll miss her wonderful smile and Burdett House won’t quite be the same without her. Our sincere condolences for your loss.
