Margaret Evelyn Brown, born in Regina Saskatchewan November 7, 1927, passed away in Victoria August 14, 2014 after a battle with cancer surrounded by her loving family.  Predeceased by her husband, Alfred in 1966; father, Phillip Temple in 1954; mother, Philis in 1976; her brothers, Phillip, Albert and Edward.  She is survived by her children, Ronald (Vernette), Gordon (Francisca) and Douglas; her grandchildren, Kristin (Steve), Cristina (David), Stephanie (Kevin), Carla and four great grandchildren.

Mom moved with her parents from Regina to Victoria in 1939 when two of her brothers entered the Navy prior to WW2. She was an independent, hard working woman and sole provider for her family after she lost her husband at just 39 years of age. She never complained about the path God had laid for her. With her strong Christian faith, she got on with life and always ensured her family was well cared for.  She was a proud and valued employee of the Victoria Times/Colonist newspaper for 27 years and a 1946 graduate of Vic High. Mom resided the last 33 years of her life in Esquimalt, a place she cherished.

A special thank you to Dr. Derek Carroll who showed our mother great compassion and care during her illness.  A private service will be held at Sequoia Garden’s Memorial, 4665 Falaise Dr., Victoria on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at 1:30pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) at 6450 Roberts Street, Suite 150 Burnaby, BC V5G 4E1  vancouver@jdrf.ca  in Mom’s memory.  Condolences may be offered to the  family below.
