Louis Joseph Cyrille St. Hilaire

February 9th, 1915 – December 21st, 2011

With much sadness, we announce that Louis Joseph Cyrille St. Hilaire departed this world on December 21st, 2011. Born in St. Malo, MB, he was predeceased by his loving wife of over 50 years, Irene St. Hilaire, on June 2nd, 1992. He leaves behind his six children Theresa Rockson (William), Louise Rees, Angele Munro, Richard St. Hilaire, Lynne Sager (Greg), and Lenore St. Hilaire. He also leaves behind ten grandchildren, Michele (Dale), Maureen (Blaine), Shelly (Richard), Christine, Samantha, James, Brian (Michele), Justin, Jason, and Hayden; and five great-grandchildren, Jayda, Parker, Clayton, Ryan, and Emily.

Louis was a Veteran, having served for his country for many years. Through his service, he earned the Tradesmen’s qualification of a carpenter, and began a lifelong career building homes in Kitimat, Terrace, Victoria, Nanaimo, and Fort St. John, BC. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Carpenters, for over 50 years, and built over 40 homes within his lifetime. He will be remembered by his loved ones, for his extraordinary physical strength, determination, sense of pride, strong work ethic, love of family, and great sense of humour. Always a gentleman and forever in our hearts.

Funeral Services will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Vancouver & Johnson Streets. Interment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park, with a reception to follow at Sequoia Gardens Memorial, 4665 Falaise Drive.

    Lynne, Louise and Angele, Anna and I are offering our sincere condolences for the loss of your father and our good friend Louis. Over the years, Louis revealed himself as a charming person who loved his family, extended family, his independence and his way of life right to the end. He worked very hard under very difficult and harsh weather conditions for many years to support his family and provide himself with a comfortable retirement.
    He will be missed on Gull Rd. where he was walking quite often to keep himself ” mobile” while dispensing greetings and good humor to the neighbors and their children. He was a honorable man. Hector and Anna
