May 6, 1919-April 14, 2012

Lorraine Jenkins (McDonald) passed away peacefully at Glengarry Private Hospital in Victoria, B.C. Predeceased by her husband, Fred Jenkins and her sister, Zetta, she is survived by her nephew, Don McDonald and great-niece, Megan McDonald both of Vancouver. Lorraine was a vibrant, fun loving person who loved Grand Beach, her and Fred’s Florida home, curling and her favorite beverage. She began her work career at Eaton’s in Winnipeg and went on to work for many years at Paulin Chambers Biscuit Company and the Winnipeg School Board Library Services Division. Lorraine moved to Victoria in 2004 but while still living in Winnipeg, she loved her Friday outings with her dear friend, Sandy Glassey and when she moved to Victoria Sandy and Tom visited her every year taking in the sites of Victoria and the Lower Vancouver Island. She also looked forward to Victoria visits by Alma and Bob.

A private burial will take place at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens in Winnipeg on Thursday afternoon, April 19, 2012. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, www.cancer.ca in Lorraine’s name would be appreciated. Condolences may be offered below.

Lorraine, we will really miss our weekly visits to you. You were so much fun and always so happy and joyful. Emily loved to bake for you and wanted to think up new recipes you would enjoy. We cherished our times together when you would tell of your younger days and all the fun times you had. You seemed to enjoy life to the fullest and had no regrets. We especially enjoyed the story of your first driving lesson and the fire truck. Thanks for sharing your life with us, you will be dearly missed. Love you lots, Emily, Cecilia and Ali. OX

I was sorry to read of Lorraine’s passing. My parents Jim and Catherine Graham were long time acquaintances of both Fred and Lorraine and spent many winters at Marion Oaks enjoying their company. When we traveled to Florida, we met the Jenkins. They were always so much fun! My Dad is in personal care at Deer Lodge Center here in Winnipeg and I had lost track of Lorraine other than Dad saying she was in Victoria. My Mother was the record keeper and correspondent but she has been gone now for quite a few years. I will let Dad know about Lorraine. I’m sure he will be sad to hear that she is gone.
