Loran went to be with the Lord on August 28, 2015 at the age of 50 years. He was born in Victoria, British Columbia on March 9, 1965. Loran’s death follows that of his father, Loran M. Knudson. He is survived by his loving mother, Teresa Knudson of Victoria; his brothers, Murray A. Knudson of Victoria, Miguel A. Knudson of Vancouver, Ronald R. Knudson of Victoria, Edward J. Knudson of Vancouver and his sister, Damaris M. Galhon (nee Knudson) and her husband Mandeep Galhon both of Victoria.

Loran was an excellent brother, friend and son. He had a great gift for anything technical. Whether it was rebuilding motors and cars or plumbing, electrical or building projects, he was highly sought after. He was determined and had a way to think outside the box and improvise, a trait learned from my father. Loran was very family oriented and in the past years and until his father’s recent passing, was very instrumental in his father’s health. From driving his father to doctors’ appointments, to meetings with the surgeons and sitting by his bedside, he was there. Loran had a passion for travel, cars, boats and the ocean. He lived life on his own terms and was fond of his select group of friends. He will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held at McCall’s Downtown, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, on Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church, 2060 Haultain Street on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 12:00 pm with Father Ian Stuart officiating. Interment to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park.

Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the BC Cancer Foundation in his memory. Flowers accepted as well.

Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Loran and I worked together about 10 or so years ago, when I was in my late-teens to early-twenties. His big smile, infectious laugh, and great stories impacted many people. He was very intelligent, and he always took care to invest in other people and share his knowledge.

God Bless You, Loran, and I hope that your family finds comfort during this difficult time.

I first met Loran at a gym 20 years ago. We struck up a friendship that lasted all these years for which I am thankful. I regret I wasn’t made aware of the visitation or service earlier in September. It would have been nice to have attended. Loran had a good heart – always making time to help others and always making a difference for them. He was a good friend. Loran had a strong sense of family, as I do, which I admired. My thoughts and prayers are with Loran’s family.

I found out about Loran’s sudden passing from his brother, Ed, yesterday on the bus. How fortuitous to have run into him then as I had lost touch with the family.

This is a huge shock for me as Loran and I had been dating for about 6 years back in Victoria. During that time, I got to know every member of the Knudson family and they all had one trait in common- strength and tenacity. Loran inherited this as well and for that reason, he lived life to the beat of his own drum.

May you rest in peace Loran.

My condolences go out the Knudson family.

I will miss him very much. My heart breaks for Loran’s family. I hope you all find peace after the pain in your hearts.

Dear Tia and Knudson family; we are so sorry for your loss. You are all in our thoughts and we know you will get through this by holding on to each other as you always have. Loran loved his family and friends and was loved by them in return. People sometimes ask, “Where does the love go?” when someone dear to us passes. The truth is that it doesn’t go anywhere; it stays with us, in our hearts and memories, forever.

  • Mark and Christine Dutton

Loran Francisco Knudson – you were such a good friend, wonderful neighbour and an important colleague on our Strata Council . It was with profound sadness that I had to report that our Strata Council Vice President, Mr. Loran Knudson, had passed away suddenly. The Knudson Brothers – Loran and his brothers Ron and Murray are original owners, since 2008 here at “The Julia” (our Strata) on Church Avenue. Loran was a valuable member of your Strata Council team and he will be irreplaceable. I am completely stunned and totally reeling from this loss. RIP Loran Francisco Knudson. From your friends and neighbours Mark S. and Christine Dutton, Victoria, BC.

  • Lori Kalef

I’m so very sorry to hear of his sudden passing. What a tragic and much too early loss. My sincere condolences to the Knudson family and close friends.

  • Murray Knudson

There is a void in my heart and a sadness that has come over me. Our plans, the things we were going to do, from fishing to car shows, working on a project car or taking a vacation together in the tropics, all that has changed. What has not changed is the love and respect I and others have for you. The more I talk to people, the more I see the amount of people you have impacted during your time here on earth. You are in a better place now and Pop now has one of his Right Hand Men by his side. I know you and Pop will watch over us. Good bye. I love you my brother.

  • Vince Winstanley

So sorry for your loss. Julie and I have known Loran for many years, and we have always enjoyed his warm smile and great sense of humour. He will be dearly missed.
