October 20, 1970 – May 24, 2014

It is with heavy hearts that we announce our beloved Lisa’s passing surrounded by loving family after a long life of many challenges. Predeceased by grandfathers Jim Denniston (2003) and Ted Trueman (1993) and uncles Bruce (1989) and Drew (2005) Denniston.  Survived by loving parents, Jan and Wayne Trueman; sisters Jennifer (Craig) Anderson and Sarah (Mark) Wright; nephew James Williams; nieces Kaitlyn Williams, Emma and Olivia Wright; grandmothers Ethel Denniston and Lillian Trueman; Uncle Ian (Michelle) Denniston, Aunt Rosemary (Peter) Denniston, Aunt Joanne (John) Denniston-Parkin; cousins Kari (Tim) Larson, Griffin, Maerck, Haakon, Krista (Dean) Adam, Hendrik, and Jayden. Matt (Mallory) Dennison; Uncle Brian Trueman, Aaron and Arianne, Aunt Shelley (John), Jessie, Quentin, Taylor and Mason; and Rick and Suzie Prior.

Born in Victoria, Lisa lived and was education there and in Gold River graduating from Lambrick Park and Gold River Secondary Schools in 1990.  Warm-hearted and very generous, she genuinely cared about others – especially her family and friends of whom there were many.  Growing up as a “kin kid” (her parents are Kinsmen/Kinette Life Members), she learned the value of volunteering which she did with the Victoria Disability Resource Centre, Project Literacy and the Kinette Club of Juan de Fuca.  Stubborn and feisty, you could always be guaranteed to be greeted with a big smile.  Lisa never forgot birthdays or anniversaries and was our “living T.V. guide”.  Activities she participated in throughout the years included: camping with family and friends, at Camp Shawnigan, and as a Brownie and Girl Guide; bowling, caving at the Upana Caves (Gold River) and the Oregon Caves, therapeutic horseback riding, swimming and was featured on Chek6 news in the 80’s when she (as a disabled person) went surfing for the first time.  Lisa enjoyed travelling especially the family trips to Disneyland and Maui.  She loved animals especially cats, flowers and the colours pink and purple.  Please consider honouring her by wearing a bit of those colours at her Celebration of Life Service to be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at McCall’s Downtown, Johnson and Vancouver Streets in Victoria.  Reception to follow in McCall’s Family Centre.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lisa may be made to the Queen Alexandra Foundation for Children or the Bruce Denniston Bone Marrow Society, Box 157, Powell River, B.C. V8A 4Z6.

Condolences may be offered to the family below at McCall Bros. Funeral Home.
