Leonard Sidney George Sims

Leonard Sidney George Sims

June 11, 1918 – January 21, 2010

At 91 years of age, our beloved father has gone to explore a whole new world. He was surrounded by his family as he peacefully left us. Dad is survived by his loving partner of 13 years, Ruth; daughters, Sandra (Robert) and Darlene (Graeme); 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his little sister, Ruby (Bill). Predeceased by his first wife of 28 years, Dorothy (Bowerman), second wife, Joan and grandson, Garry and his five siblings. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 25 years serving in both WWII and the Korean War. We will miss his amazing stories that he shared with such enthusiasm (a lot of them humourous). He was known for his wry sense of humour, strength and courage as he faced life’s numerous challenges in his later years. Dad loved his bridge games with Ruth and the crew, countless hours of fishing and his Saturday morning breakfasts out. His visits with all the grandchildren were always exciting and made for much noise, fun and laughter. He had a truly wonderful life and was much loved by all. We would like to thank Dr. Ripley and all the nurses on 4B at Victoria General Hospital for their compassion and kindness.

Funeral Service will be held in McCALL BROS. FLORAL CHAPEL, Johnson & Vancouver Streets, on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Hatley Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion.
