July 6, 1931 –  June 19, 2014

Kay passed away peacefully, on June 19th, 2014 at her home, while reading a book (probably a dessert recipe book!)  Kay was born in Manitoba, raised on the family farm in Saskatoon and then moved to Victoria in her teens.  Kay met her first husband, Andy Cochrane, at a Metropolitan Church Youth Group function.  They spent 25 years together boating, fishing, (which she didn’t like) and playing bridge which she loved.  One out of three isn’t bad!   After Andy died, Kay met and married Don Wagg and they spent their time together traveling the world.

Kay loved gardening, playing bridge, traveling and especially being a grandmother.  Her only regret was having to wear a hearing aid to keep up with the three different conversations at family dinners.  Kay leaves behind her daughter, Ann; her son John and second daughter, Donna; grandsons, Liam, Devon (Justine) and Ryan.

We will all miss Kay each and every day.  Helping us during these times are all the wonderful memories, such as Kay stepping the wrong way into traffic during the London Olympics, not once, but 5 times!  Someone should have mentioned the one way streets.

A service will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday June 27, 2014 at McCall’s Downtown, Johnson & Vancouver Streets.  Reception to be announced at the service. Flowers are gratefully declined, even though she loved flowers. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Alzheimer’s Society or the charity of your choice. Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Dear family of Kay–Please accept my sympathy at the death of Kay. I met her at the Monterey Seniors Centre this past year when a few of us met there weekly to share experiences & support each other as primary caregivers. She shared her knowledge & offered support to those of us struggling with our responsibilities. I appreciated her kind ways & lovely smile. I’m sure you will all miss her terribly & I too will miss seeing her at the Centre.
    Kind regards, Lynn

As one of the volunteers at the Thursday Arts and Alzheimer’s, it was a pleasure to see Kay’s lovely smiling face as she brought Noreen in for the weekly program. We will certainly miss her.
Sincere sympathy to all the family.
