MCMEEKIN Joyce Ivy – Peacefully on August 19, 2009 in Victoria, at the age of 81. Predeceased by her husband Robert and her sister Eve Brown, she is survived by her daughter Janet; two brothers, Jim Payne and Jack (Daphne) Payne, their families and many good friends. Mom will be remembered for her independent spirit, her sense of humour, love of music, and her many years of volunteer work in the Comox Valley and Victoria. A Memorial Service will be conducted by the Very Reverend Dr. Logan McMenamie in CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL, Quadra and Burdett Streets, on Wednesday, September 2nd at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception. Tributes, if desired, may be made to the BC Cancer Foundation, 2410 Lee Avenue, Victoria, BC V8R 6V5.

    Dear Janet – Dianne and I remember well your dear mother. We have had many conversations with her over the years and she had a great number of good friends here and in Calgary. A strong lady who had no trouble in speaking her mind and she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

    O God, who holdest all souls in life: Cleanse our sorrow by the gift of faith, and confirm in our hearts the knowledge of Him who is the Resurrection and the Life, they Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

    Rest eternal grant unto her, O Lord, may light perpetual shine upon her. May she rest in peace, may she rest in peace.
