I was saddened to hear of Joe’s untimely passing. Although our acquaintance was only as work colleagues at the Inventory Branch, I remember his smile, and his soft-spoken gentlemanly manner that showed him to be a person of kindness and integrity. It is tragic that his years have been cut short. My deepest sympathies to the family in their loss.

I was shocked to learn from a former work colleague about Joe’s demise. I never thought of him when he and I both worked for Inventory in Victoria… as a ‘Faller’. I recall many chats at our respective work areas and at the coffee station over the years from 1982-2002. I recall his points of view as often different from mine… no matter we both respected our differences. I have memories of us outside of work playing soccer together (on the same side) at Central High School’s soccer field. This was back in the days when another of our co-workers: Rick Woods was also in attendance at both work and on the field – back then he was refereeing. What I remember best besides Joe’s perpetual smile was his appearance on the field. He looked so cute in his black & white shorts and T-shirt and he blocked a lot of sun. I’m sure he will be remembered in different ways than how I relate this and I’m sorry for his sudden departure and for his family’s loss.
