When I think of my Mom I remember her laugh, her smile, her voice and her style. I remember her strength, her poise, her many gifts and her joys. I will never forget her words, her grace, her beautiful eyes and her face. I will always feel her love, remember her life and everything that made her feel so special to our family and everyone who knew her.

We all loved her so very much and will cherish our memories of her.

  • Geraldine Selkirk (nee Erickson)

Hello, I was born in Riverton in 1960 and grew up there. My parents were John and Jean Erickson and we were very close to Wally and Dorothy and their family. I saw Jona’s obituary in the Wpg Free press and felt compelled to share a story with you.
When I was about 5 yrs old I was a patient in the Gimli Hospital. My Father was away working and my Mother didn’t drive and so she was only able to visit if someone drove her to Gimli, I was extremely lonesome. I will never forget seeing a woman (Jona) who I did not know standing by the desk with a big colorfully wrapped present and wishing she was there to give the present to me. I will never forget opening that present which was full of costume jewellery and other small items. I particularly remember a silver necklace with tourquoise stones which I thought was so beautiful. It is a memory I will never forget.
Later in life I realized what a special person Jona was to visit a child that she did not know.

  • Lily DeClavasio & Family

My brother Howard (Lori Lee) always spoke lovingly of Jona, and we felt her warmth through them (and through videos and many pictures!). Jona was a beautiful woman with a beautiful spirit, and we know her presence will truly be missed. “A great soul never dies. It brings us together again and again.” We wish you all peace and comfort in the light and love she left behind – until you meet again.

    Love,
    Lily and Family

Dear Lori Lee, Jo Ann, Lucille and family,

My deepest sympathy in the loss of your mom. She was such a warm and welcoming woman. I think it was so easy when I was young to pretend that Lori Lee was my twin sister not just because we almost shared a birthday but also because your mom made me feel so welcomed in her home. Even years later she always expressed such joy in seeing me–it made me feel very special. I hope your memories of this remarkable woman bring smiles rather than tears. Góða nótt elskan, Margo

    The sorrow of the faithful
is not that of permanent loss,
but the tender sense of sadness
that comes in saying good-bye for now
    to someone we love.
    May today’s sorrow give way
    to the peace and
    comfort of God’s love.
