It is with great sadness that John’s family announces his passing on December 14, 2014 due to cancer related complications.  John was born in Windsor, Ontario on June 7, 1947 and enjoyed a long career with the RCMP before retiring to Victoria.  John was dearly loved by his wife, Lori Sather and his children, Cory (Susanne), Shane, Niki (Tom) and Kody (Jennifer).  He deeply loved his six grandchildren, Kyla, Natalyn, Rylan, Cavyn, Martin and Liam and his sisters, Judy (Bob), Peggy (Owen), Carey (Joe) and their families.  He was profoundly grateful for the care received from his Doctors and Nurses and all of the help that Lorna and Aunty Joan provided during his illness.

John requested that we hold a tea to celebrate his life, so please join his family and friends on Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 1 – 4 pm at the Cordova Bay United Church Hall at 813 Claremont.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Red Cross Equipment Loans at 909 Fairfield Road, Victoria, BC. V8V 3A3 would be greatly appreciated.

John was an inspiration for me in my younger years with the RCMP. My wife Carol was quite ill and John was always there to keep my spirits up and make sure I was alright. He was a great supervisor, friend and colleague. I sincerely hope John knows just how much he helped me and how important he was in my life. An e cefriend.

Dear Lori, Cory, Shane, Niki, and Kody and my cousins Carey, Peggy and Judy. I am so sad to hear of my gentle giant cousin’s passing. My condolences to all. I hold dear many sweet memories of him including his warm-hearted relationship (with a healthy dose of good natured teasing) he maintained with my mother Peggy.

Lori and Family — I met John only a few times and each time, I was struck by his kindness and calmness. I will think of him when I paddle the red kayak.

I feel sorrow for your loss. My regards and sympathy to you at this difficult time.

I served with John many years ago when I was i/c Parksville Detachment. He was always a willing worker and a decent guy. It was nice to renew aquaintence when he retired to Victoria and joined up with the Veterans. Sympathy to family.

    Lori and family,
So sorry for your loss. I pray you and your family find comfort and peace in the beautiful hope of a forthcoming worldwide Paradise, where as Jesus foretold, we will once again embrace our resurrected loved ones to never lose them again. Keep hIs words as found in John 5:28, 29 close to your heart. There he says: “Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming, in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life…” For a short while John will be resting peacefully as Ecclesiastes 9:5, 10 lets us know and will soon awaken to a beautiful life to reunite with family. May this wonderful hope keep you and family strong.

Very sad to hear of Staff Williamsons passing ( I cant bring myself to call him anything else). I had the pleasure of working for the Staff at Port Mann Detachment from his arrival in 1996 until his retirement. The other members and I were very proud to serve under him. He treated those under him with respect and courtesy. I overheard him many times talking to outsiders about how the people working for him were the best and the pride he had in his employees. I remember being in a police car collision late one night only to have the Staff come out to the scene to see if I was ok and to offer me a coffee. That small gesture was exactly what I needed at such a stressful time. He set the example that I strive to follow.

My deepest sympathies to his family,

    Lorne Lecker

    Lori, Cody and Family:
I’m so sorry for your loss. John was a good husband and father, and his devotion to little Chase was sweet to see. I’ll hold him in my memory every time I hear music outdoors. Many Tuesday evenings over the past few summers we all sat together and enjoyed the Music in the Park. His quiet demeanor and tall stature gave him an elegance that was well matched with Lori’s. I’ll miss seeing the two of you together, but will keep the image fondly in my heart.
