Born July 6, 1918 in Belfast, Northern Ireland and died at Saanich Peninsula Hospital on January 20, 2015.   He served his country in the Royal Air Force in the Second World War stationed for 3 ½ years in Algeria.  He met and married Vera, who served in the RCAF, in Belfast in 1949. They returned to Canada in 1951 and eventually settled in Sidney in 1956. Jack was predeceased by Vera, his devoted and loving wife, in 2005.  He is survived by his son, Ken (Leslie) and his much loved grandchildren, Lindsay (Derek), Daniel and Michael. He will also be sadly missed by his dear friend, Ruth and niece, Pat (Larry).

The family would like to thank the caring and dedicated staff of Saanich Peninsula Hospital, St. Andrew’s Church family for their pastoral care and his friends at St. Mary’s and Holy Trinity Churches.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, 9691 Fourth Street, Sidney, on Wednesday, January 28 at 2:00pm, the Rev. Osita Oluigbo officiating. A reception will follow in the Church Hall.

Kenny I have just read the obituary for your dad. I was just thinking of him the other day and wondering how he was doing. You will miss him and my thoughts and prayers go to you and your family. I have not been in contact with your dad since just before your mother passed away but I have often thought of you. Your dad and Mother were such good neighbours and friends when we lived next to each other in Sidney. They were such a good support for me when my dad died. While I do not know much of what happened after my mother and I left Sidney you have always had a place in my thoughts. Many are the memories I have of those years when we lived next to each other and I trust they will fill a spot for you now. Your parents were good kind people and my prayers are with you as you journey through this time of loss. May God give you the peace and comfort you need.

Ken, Leslie & Family. It is with great sadness that we hear of Jack’s passing. Over the years we have had many family dinners which Jack was always part of. We will forever miss his stories and of course he picture taking, always good for a laugh. Our hearts are with all of you at this time. Just remember that Jack has now made his way back to the arms of his loving wife Vera. They will now once again share and enjoy their love for each other from this day forward. God Speed Jack, you know your family will miss you dearly.

    Love Bernie & Barb
