Nov.6,1937 – Sept.24,2014

It’s with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Mother who passed away peacefully at her home in Victoria, BC. She will be dearly missed by all her family and friends.

Mom was born and raised in Oak Bay, always fondly reminiscing about Oak bay and her summers on Pender island.  She went to Sprott shaw college for clerical, working Government jobs before becoming an Eatons employee, enjoying the diversity that job offered her for several years.  She met our father working at the dockyard in 1957.  Our parents got married in 1964 and settled down in Gordon head right before their first child of 4 was born in 1967.

Both of our parents had a love of family life. With 4 kids there was never a dull moment in our household.  It was the house where all the kids from the neighbourhood and friends would go. Every Sunday were long family drive days and every summer we went camping for weeks on end.  So many fond memories as a kid, especially on vacations!

Our mom was very patient, grateful, fun & giving. A classy, kind, gentle, responsible, good natured lady. Such a wonderful heart and an open mind. A young spirit with so much life to share & live. She had a zest for learning, always an ear to listen & an open door to all. She had many varied interests including gardening and bridge clubs.

Our mother had such a big heart.  She was a very devoted, bright, caring,  mother and grandmother right to the end.  She will be missed and never forgotten.  May your soul soar high above us like a bird watching over us mom.

Predeceased by parents Cecil and Bernice Wight(Nee Wardell) and husband Robert Wilkins.  Survived by sons Micheal ( Miki), Greg (Leslie), Jeff (Kim) and Daughter Wendy (Dave).  Grandchildren Nathan, Caittlyn, Charlotte and Miko.  Also survived by brothers Bob and Bruce (Jean), plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Service to be at McCalls Sequoia Gardens Memorial building in Royal Oak, Oct. 6,2014 at 1pm with tea to follow in same room.

I met Jeanette while watching her grand daughter caittlyn and meeting here daughter Wendy and Nathan. To me, Jeanette was the kind of person who could enter a room. Not say a word and fill the room with love and understanding. Her presence said more than words could ever say. Thank you for being you!!!!!! Kandis

Wonderful! Growing up, Auntie Jeanette was our calm amidst storms, and our champion through any battle. She always had an open mind and would help us sort out our thoughts and feelings. Whether she inwardly felt we were justified or not….It never mattered, what mattered was how WE were feeling about it all. The relaxed atmosphere of my aunt and uncle’s house made it a home we all wished we could of stayed instead of visiting from time to time. I will never forget you, Auntie Jeanette, and I will endeavour to try and be more like the person and woman you shared with me and the world!!! I said TRY…cause you would just say….”Be Yourself, Cause Yourself is Pretty Wonderful.”
