Passed away on August 31, 2015 in Victoria, BC. She was born on October 23, 1913 in Victoria and was predeceased by her husband, James in 1989; siblings, Ernest, Alan, George and Joyce; daughter, Barbara; son, Douglas and granddaughter, Dawna. She is survived by her sons, Bruce (Carole) of Gananoque, Ontario, David (Joanne) of Victoria and Michael (Betty) of Vernon, BC as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

Jean was a proud Victorian who shared many fascinating details of how the City evolved over her nearly 102 years. In 1936, she married Edinburgh born Jim, who left her with two young children to fight overseas in WWII, years she found difficult. Three more children followed after Jim safely returned and Jean devoted herself to family, various creative pursuits and outside interests. She mastered mahjong at 90 and still danced at 101, albeit with help. She was a fiercely independent and feisty woman who was loved and admired for her tireless energy, dedication to family and easy to like personality. Jean spent the last two and a half years living at the Kiwanis Pavilion where she was very well cared for by kind and loving staff.

A family gathering will take place at the Gorge Vale Golf Club, 1005 Craigflower Road, Victoria, BC on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at 1:00 pm.

Dear Bruce, David & Michael, Our Deepest Sympathy on the loss of your Mom. Wow almost 102 , that is really some accomplishment, good for her. We would quite often see her in Thrifty’s a few years back and chat with her. I remember your Mom so well when growing up with you all across the street from our house. We had a lot of good times in the Logie House with your family over all those years. Your Mom also taught me, Barb and Trudy Smith how to sew these special skirts that we liked to wear back then. Your Mom would get the material for us at a discount through the fabric store she worked in at that time. She always had a lovely smile on her face unless she was mad at us kids for something and then watch out. LOL Those were some great memories on Canterbury Street. You will also have lots of wonderful loving and happy memories that will remain in your hearts forever. Keep Smiling! Pat Warburton
