Announcing the arrival of my dear wife into the heavenly realms, Janice Lynn Miller left peacefully on March 2, 2015 and is now dancing with the angels.  Even though she was weak, she was still alert and had opportunity to say goodbye to a whole host of friends and family one evening last week.  It was a blessing to all.  She was my loving wife and friend for over 42 years, and a sister, friend, mother and daughter.

Janice is survived by her husband Lorne, son Brant (Janice E.), daughter Kirsten (Matt Parker), grandsons Miles & Gavin Parker, parents John & Pat Heggie, brother Colin Heggie (Barbara Harris), numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and a large community of loving friends and clients.  Her family is especially grateful for the wonderful in-home care she received, over her last weeks, from Patti Miller, Caroline Sloat and Annagrace Kolodinsky. She was a beautiful gem who touched so many lives over her lifetime; many have said that it was like a ray of sunshine when she walked into a room.  She was one who walked with God, and had a servant’s heart through and through.  She had great tenacity, determination, was family focused, and always full of fun and vitality.  Janny loved everyone she met and in turn was loved and cherished by them.  She will be missed by many and has surely left a lasting perfume/mark on all our lives.  Love and memories with remain.  Until we meet again…

We will join in a celebration of Janice’s life followed by a reception at 1:00 pm on April 8th, 2015 at Saanich Baptist Church, 4347 Wilkinson Road.  Condolences may be offered to the family below.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Miller and Heggie family. We so much enjoyed seeing Janice and Lorne when they came down to Portland to visit. Janice’s welcoming warm smile and her calming presence always made you feel special. We feel fortunate to have spent the day going up to Lost lake and around Mt Hood last summer with her. She was always pleasant to be around and easy to talk to. We will truly miss her.

To the Heggie and Miller families,
It has been many years since I last saw Janice. We were a close group of friends from the band at Mt Doug High School in the early 70’s, and my wife (Janet Taylor) and her sisters were all in Job’s Daughters with Janice at the same time. We lost touch in the following years as we all got married and had our own families., but I always remember her with a big smile on her face. I also remember discovering that our grandparents were friends long before either Janice or I were even born.

We are so sorry for your loss, but hope that the happy memories of old friends from Janice’s past will ease you through these difficult days.

We were blessed to have had her friendship, Lorne, and yours as well. We were sorry to not have seen you both over the past while, but we have prayed for you both often and will continue to uphold you.
As the lovely write up about her says, she was sunshine and love to everyone she met and we were two that were extremely blessed by her. Our hearts are with you. Jack & Andrea
