June 9th 1926 – December 7th 2013

Born in Birmingham, England, Janie leaves behind her beloved husband, John, twin nieces Madeleine (Geoff), Sue (Dawn), nephew Andrew (Debbie) as well as many “adopted’ family members including close friends and John’s stepdaughter, Jill.

Prior to emigrating to Canada, Jane lived in the Cotswolds and Surrey, UK with her first husband Stan (d.1979).  Jane worked at BBC’s Television Centre in London.

Her wedding to John in 1984 was a marriage made in heaven. They came to Canada on the QE2 then travelled across Canada by train to settle in Victoria. In ensuing years they drove throughout the USA, flew on the Concorde, enjoyed trips to Alaska, the Panama Canal and much more.

Jane is remembered for her great hospitality, her wonderful warm personality, her sense of humour and quick wit, her classy outfits, many of which she made herself, her love of a good joke and all the fun ‘dress-up’ times. She had a green thumb which resulted in many beautiful gardens, including her balcony garden on the 20th floor of their condo. Jane so enjoyed her camera and took many photos of their beautiful views and of their many friends.

A celebration of Jane’s life will be held on Saturday, December 14 at 2:00 p.m. at McCall’s Downtown Chapel, 1400 Vancouver St., Victoria, BC. A reception will immediately follow the service.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of choice.  Condolences may be expressed below.

So sorry to get this sad news after receiving John & Jane’s usual Xmas letter this year. Although we have never met Jane, we are heartened by the full and happy life she led and the love she found with John. Our love and sympathy go to John.

Some people such as Janie are such a blessing to know.
We will always remember her with a gentle smile, a good story
    and happy feelings.

For some things there are no words, only shoulders to lean on. Hands to hold on to and hugs to comfort you the best they can.

John, we send our shoulders, hands and hugs and we hold you in our prayers,
    Love
    Bryan and Joan
