1931 – 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bob Horner at Royal Jubilee Hospital on April 23, 2015 with his family by his side. Bob was predeceased by his wife Gloria in 2009 and will lovingly be remembered by his son Ian (Paula), daughter Wendy (James), his granddaughter Jamie, his caregiver Wendy Wilson, and family and friends in BC and Alberta.

Born and raised in Edmonton, Bob had a great passion for boats and planes. After high school Bob became a commercial pilot with Pacific Western Airlines where he met Gloria, a stewardess with TCA, who became the love of his life for 55 years. Together they settled in Edmonton where Bob left flying to become a businessman before moving to Victoria in 1967.

Bob had a sharp intellect and an adventurous spirit. He enjoyed many years navigating the coastal waters of BC and to Hawaii with his family aboard “Pandora” and sharing his knowledge of the Bahamas with friends on the “Snowbird”. When Bob was home from his world travels he was an active volunteer in numerous organizations throughout the community.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 2:00 pm at McCall’s Floral Chapel, Johnson at Vancouver Street.  Condolences for the family may be offered below.

    Wendy and Family,

I was so sorry to hear of Bob’ passing and was unable to attend the celebration of life for him. Wendy, I’ll always remember your father as a kind and warm person with a enormous sense of humor and fun. As a youth one summer, I was invited to join you and your folks on a trip around Vancouver Island on the Pandora. That was a gift I will never forget and for which I’ll always be grateful to your loving and giving parents Bob and Gloria.
