December 21, 1922 – April 11, 2015 With heavy hearts we announce the passing of Helen at the Heights at Mt. View in Victoria, BC. She is predeceased by her husband Jack in 1986; brother, William in 2014; sister, Edith Jackson in 1994 and infant sister, Yvonne in 1929. Helen is survived by her son, David (Maggie); grandchildren, Katie and Christopher and great grandchildren, Nikola and Kylar; step daughters, Carol (Bjorn) and their children, Fern and Eden and Suzanne; niece and nephews, Marianna, Lloyd, Mark and Brian and their families, as well as, sister in law, Mary Ferguson. Also left to mourn are many other friends and family in Canada, England and the U.S.A. Helen grew up in Victoria, attended Vic High and was the captain of the Field Hockey Team. She made her way to Santa Barbara, California and later Culver City to work in retail fashion, becoming a manager and buyer for Bullock’s Dept. Stores. Helen had a good head for business and math, working her way up the ladder over the years with faithful employees and excellent sales skills. Jack and Helen retired to Victoria in 1985, leaving the rat race of L.A. behind to join family back home. Helen enjoyed life to the fullest as an avid golfer and bowler. She loved to travel and play cards. Her quick wit and wonderful stories will be missed by all who knew her.  Special thanks to all the wonderful staff at the Heights and Mt. Edward Court, especially Debbie F., Analyn and Jennifer who were always able to share a laugh with Helen.   Graveside service will be held at Royal Oak Burial Park, Thursday April 16, 2015 at 1:00pm, followed by a tea at the Heights at Mt. View, 3814 Carey Rd. at 2:00pm.  Condolences may be offered  to the family below.

There are so many fond memories of days gone by. Bowling, golfing, cards, dinners with the girls. Such a wonderful person with a great sense of humour. You are loved and will be missed.

I was so saddened to hear of Helen’s passing. I knew her as “Granny Helen” and she was a delightful grandmother to myself, Kenny & Judy. We all loved when Granny & Jack would come over , always bringing Jiffy Pop, Goober Jelly & a bag of coins to throw in the pool for us to claim. I hadn’t seen her since she & Jack moved to Canada, and hadn’t been able to get a hold of her for quite a while. I’ve always shared my many memories of Granny & Jack with my 6 kids, and my daughter Robyn Leonardo kept in touch with her. She was a smart, sassy, funny sweet lady who always made me feel special . My father was very upset upon hearing of her passing. RIP Granny, till we meet again. Love you!!!
