Helen Mabel Egan of Victoria

EGAN (Oldfield) – Helen Mabel died peacefully on January 2, 2003 at Oak Bay Lodge, Victoria. She was born on January 9, l912 in Vaughan Township, Ontario. The daughter of William Richard and Ida Mabel Egan, Helen was predeceased by her sister Marguerite Hutchinson and brothers, William and Harold. She is survived by her long time friend, Maidie Cottingham; nieces, Lois Heppell and Deborah Brook; nephews, Bill Hutchinson, Paul Egan, Dwight Egan and their families; and sister-in-law, Jeanne Egan.

During World War II, Helen served overseas in Belgium and Holland with the Canadian Red Cross as a welfare officer. In l952 she moved to British Columbia. She was the Egan Family genealogist, compiling her many years of research into the Egan Family History. Special thanks to the staff at Oak Bay Lodge, particularly Dogwood 1 and Dogwood 3 for their loving care and kindness.

Funeral Service will be held in McCall Bros. Floral Chapel, Johnson and Vancouver Street, on Monday, January 13, at 3:00 pm. Cremation. Interment in the Egan family plot, Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bolton, Ontario. Donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross, Medical Equipment Loan Service, 909 Farifield Road, Victoria, V8V 3A3.
