Harold “Harry” Taylor

TAYLOR Harold “Harry” – Peacefully on November 16, 2009 at the age of 83. He is survived by Irene, his loving wife of 60 years; his daughter, Kathleen (Bernard); two sons, Ian (Rosemary) and Randy (Vivian); six grandchildren, James, Kristine, Michael, Bradley, Kyle and Ashley and two great-sons, Riley and Leeam. Harry began his professional hockey career with the Winnipeg Monarchs, winning the Memorial Cup in 1945 – 46, the Toronto Maple Leafs, winning the Stanley Cup in 1948 -49 and the Cleveland Barons, winning the Calder Cup in 1950 – 51. He retired from Trans Canada Pipe Lines in 1984, coming to Sidney with Irene in 1989. Private cremation. A gathering of family and friends will take place at a later date.

    We were pleased to have had the opportunity to know him.
    My Mother still recalls how much Harry helped her with her gas fireplace.

    Harry always had the ability to make things turn into happy. a very good hockey player and a character at heart. Our hockey trips were always seemingly fast because of his wit. loved his golf and is probably playing right now with Patch. My sincere sorrow in his passing, he was quite a guy, i was proud to know him!! GOD BLESS!! Ron Castelane and all his hockey pals in Winnipeg and rural Manitoba

    Irene & family: We were sorry to read about Harry’s passing in the Wpg. Free Press. We certainly have many fond memories of the time we spent in Palm Springs with Harry and you. We especially remember our card games and golf. Harry always hit the ball further than the rest of the guys, so had lots of time to fish for golf balls. We rarerly had to buy any. We treasure those years with you and the Seibels.
