December 20, 1935 – January 16, 2015

Born in Vancouver, and attended school in Kerrisdale. He later worked for Cyclone Taylor Sporting Goods before moving with his wife and family, to Nanaimo to work for Sears. In 1998, he retired in Victoria after 31 years with the company. He is predeceased by his son Gordon Andrew in 1986. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Ann and daughters, Deborah (Cliff), Dawn (Jorgen), Liana (Jonathan) and Glennyss (Richard).  He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren and brother, Randall (Margaret). The family would like to thank Dr. Horgan and the PD nurses on the renal floor at the Royal Jubilee Hospital and the nurses at Hospice for their loving care.

He will always be remembered for his long drives exploring the back roads, his love of swimming, the many stories of his adventures growing up in Vancouver, his sense of humour and love for his family.  Condolences may be offered to the family below.

I am very sorry for your loss. Although I never met Gordon Sr, I graduated and was friends with his son Gordie in 1986 at Spectrum. In reading the posts, it sounds as if Gordon senior instilled the same values in his son, as he possessed. He sounded like a wonderful man, and I am sorry for your loss. Your son was a great person as well, and I think of him often.
    Hoping you find peace

To Ann and family: I was a class mate of Gordon’s at Maple Grove School and Magee High School in Kerrisdale. I remember walking past his house on 45th Avenue, just west of West Boulevard on the way to school. I met him again at the Magee High School reunion in Vancouver several years ago. I am now living in Victoria. I remember Gordon as one of the nicest persons I knew throughout my early schooldays. I am sorry for your loss. God Bless. Sincerely.

    Dear Ann and Family,

Hanna and I, learnt with great sadness of the passing of Gordon. We used to work together for a decade at the Sears store in Victoria.

Beside his sense of humour and his smile, Gordon was also kind, gentle and soft spoken. I still remember stories Gordon shared with me over our coffee breaks: like about his moving to New Zealand or taking course to be an accountant. I am glad that it did not happen otherwise our path would have never meet. My life is richer for knowing Gordon and I believe that he left our Vancouver Island a better place than when he came.

Please accept our deepest sympathy, love and respect in your time of deep sorrow.
