April 3, 1918 – February 21, 2015

The family of Flo Seabrook is sad to announce her passing on February 21, 2015.  She was the second of six children born to homesteaders William and Lillian (Hawkins) Babbage in Steveville, in the badlands of southern Alberta.  Her early life was very hard and her thrifty, conscientious and independent character was formed by those early years.   Flo dedicated her life to her family, her faith, her garden and her charity work.  She will be remembered for her kindness, intelligence, generosity and strong work ethic.

Flo was predeceased by her husband Mel in 2008 and is survived by her sister, Olive O’Brien, her daughters Carol (Harold) Turnham, Linda (Larry) Scotten, Marilyn (John) Thornton and her son Ron (Linda).  Flo was a loving grandmother to Christine (Sean) Morris, Jeff Turnham, Jonathan (Jaime) Turnham, and Mike Turnham; Trevor (Lindsay) Scotten and Laura (Jason) Scotten; Dan (Charline) Thornton and Kat Thornton; and Lisa (Stuart) Pickard.  She will also be lovingly missed by her nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.  The family would like to acknowledge and thank her special friends, Mary Lynn, Margaret and Laura, for their support and kindness.  In addition our sincere thanks to Dr. R. Janicki for his care over the years.

A funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 2:00 pm at St Luke’s Anglican Church, 3821 Cedar Hill X Road, Victoria with a reception to follow in the hall.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Luke’s Church or to the charity of your choice.

Sorry to hear about Flos passing – though its not sadness that her memory evokes , as I remember sitting and having a bowl of tomato soup and a sandwich with her when I helped her in the garden. I will miss her, bryan.

Florence was a lady that will not be forgotten. She was one who touched peoples hearts especially ours.
She lived a very hard working life especially on the farm, we understand.
Flo had many talents, she loved to garden in earlier years, and that was not all, she would bottle fruit, and make
the most delicious jam and marmalade.
We believe she has great reward in heaven for the sewing and other work she did for the church, and for many other people.
Flo also brought her children up to respect others. Peter and I send you, her son and daughters, sister and cousins our deepest sympathy..

    Peter and Rose Hudson.

    Dear Cousins,

Aunt Flo is resting after a lengthy and beautiful life. She was blessed to have Uncle Mel for so long and what more could a mother ask for than to have her daughters and son so near to give her comfort and assistance. I fondly remember my visits with her and Uncle Mel and then, when Mel pased, just with her. Clearly with love in her heart and eyes, she realayed to me the doings of all her children and grandchildren. She had the fortune of her mind and body keeping in unision as she aged and she remained sharp even though she said she was forgetful. She, like her sisters and brothers, was an example of working hard, fullfilling one’s duty and sharing one’s love. On behalf of your Landry cousins, Patricia, Darlene, RoseMarie and Len, she will be fondly remembered.
