Faye died peacefully at noon on May 12, 2014 with her dear friends, Alison and Sara at her side. Faye was born in Carman, Manitoba on December 8, 1946. Faye graduated from University of Manitoba to become a teacher. It was her first teaching assignment in Deloraine, Manitoba where she met her partner for life, Fred Aberle. They were married August 24, 1968 and shared over 45 years together.

One might, upon meeting Faye, feel that she was unfortunate given the continuous progression of Multiple Sclerosis which she endured for many years. But, this was not the case. Faye met her challenges with nobility, endurance and dignity, making us aware that she never let it get in the way of a fulfilling life. Faye had been a teacher and a visual artist and used her ingenuity to create an atmosphere of learning. MS made Faye’s world more focussed and caused her to appreciate deeply the richness of the details of everyday life. She continued her art and loved to correspond with family and friends. Her devoted husband, friends and family all benefitted from her daily contentment, courage, fortitude, and patience.

Faye was predeceased by her husband Fred; her parents, Ed and Hanna Pritchard and is survived by brother, Alan Pritchard (Laurine Didier); sister, Lorraine Pritchard (Stan Phillips); sister, Lynne Sanderson (Wayne) and sisters-in-law, Carol Latendresse and Marie Tidd; nephews, Dean Pritchard, Jason Sutton; niece, Deanna Sutton and nephews Sean Latendresse and Chad Latendresse.

Faye’s family would like to take this opportunity to thank the absolute stellar care Faye received from the many care givers from Beacon Community Services and Susan Gardiner. This contributed greatly to her quality of daily life. Special thanks to Alison Lockhart for her love, care and devotion to Faye. Faye will be greatly missed but the love for her will continue in all of our hearts.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 17th, 1:00 p.m. at First Metropolitan United Church Chapel, 932 Balmoral Road, Victoria.

Donations are welcome to be directed to MS Society of Victoria, 1004 North Park Street, Victoria, BC, V8T 1C6.

I’m sorry to hear of Faye’s death. I was going though the letters of my sister, April Henderson, who died in 2018, and found reference to Faye. I always looked forward to seeing all the Pritchard girls when I was in high school in Carman.

  • Sheila Davis

I was so sorry to hear of Faye’s passing. She was one of the most positive individuals that I had ever met. I recall one particular visit that had a profound impact on me…. Faye, as an accomplished artist, could no longer paint, yet she had one of her caregivers painting for her, exactly as Faye was instructing her. As I watched the painting come to life, I was so impressed with how Faye was able to keep pursuing the things she loved, despite the limitations that she had to contend with.
It does give me some inner peace to know that Faye and Fred will be together again!
    Sheila

Dear Lorraine, Lynne and Alan. It is with a heavy heart that I send my condolences on Faye’s passing. She and Fred were very dear friends as well as neighbours and we spent many happy hours and parties at their home having so much fun and listening to Fred’s ribald jokes. Faye was always so cheerful and we all loved her. So go with God dear Faye and give Fred a hug for me. Andrée

  • Jennifer Wilson

To all of Faye’s family and friends, my sincerest condolences.
Both Fred and Faye were good friends made during my first
years working with Merck in Wpg. Faye was the steadying
but supportive partner who was always beside Fred. I spent many
very wonderful times with them over the years. Faye was
an amazing lady and I always admired her passion
and enthusiasm for life despite the health issues
she was forced to deal with. I believe she and Fred are
now able to be together again enjoying a glass of wine and a chuckle.

    Dear Allan, Lorraine, and Lynne
I wish we could be there to give each of you a big hug to help console your heavy saddened hearts. Faye always seemed to find the positive in things, rather than the negative, and although life was such a challenge for her, we will always remember her with a big smile on her face and a positive happy attitude. We hope it is some consolation to know that God has relieved her of anymore suffering and put her to rest in peace, but most of all, she has been reunited with the love of her life…Fred, for sure to bring her joy and put a smile on her face. We all share your loss and she will be remembered with fond memories.
Our hearts and prayers are with you all,
    Love Vickie and Jim

I am shocked and hugely saddened by this news. I was fortunate enough to have met Faye 17 years ago, and she will leave a lasting impression on me. No matter what came her way, she had a zest for life, kindness for everyone, a wonderful sense of humour, and an ever-present sparkle in her eye. She has been a true inspiration to me. Our whole family will miss her. With love from The Charlesworths – Sabira, John, Hannah and Zach
