June 28, 1939 – July 1, 2015

Today we rejoice in the knowledge that Dad has passed the barrier of time as we know it. He is forever at home with his Saviour that he faithfully served for 76 years. He was a man of strong faith, believing in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love. He believed in the beauty and peace that would await him after his passing. He was born to Luis and Germina Almeida in Auga de Pau, Sao Miguel, Acores,  Portugal. He married and immigrated with his wife Margarida in 1963, who sadly passed away in 1998. He worked as a Barber and opened up his own Barber Shop to eventually open his own Salon. Ezequiel was a loving devoted father to his daughter Deborah (Mike) and son Joshua (Crystal). He loved and cherished his two grandsons, William and Timothy. He always looked forward to spending time with his siblings, Isabel (predeceased), Eduarda, Noemia, Carlos and Paulo. Zeke, as he was known to many, was a generous gentle soul with a wonderful sense of humor and always making people laugh. His outgoing nature resulted in many friends throughout his life. He was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family, which included siblings, grandsons, niece’s, nephews, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, friends and most of all by his loving daughter and son.

Yes we grieve, but with joyous faith, we will see him again.

A Celebration of Life Service officiated by Pastor Dennis Scott will take place on Friday, July 10, 2015 at 11:00 am at Oaklands Chapel, 2736 Fernwood Road, Victoria, BC. A Christian Burial to follow at Royal Oak Burial Park. A time of fellowship with all his family and friends will take place at Oaklands Chapel following the burial at 2:00 pm. The family would like to thank all the Doctors and ICU staff at VGH who provided such kind and compassionate care to our Dad. A special thanks to Josh and Theresa for their understanding and their wonderful support to our Dad and the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Camp Imadene.  Condolences may be offered to the family below.

    Deborah, William and Timothy,

We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your Dad and Grandfather. I know you will all miss him terribly. You were a good daughter to him and I know he loved you deeply.

    Deborah and Joshua,

My condolences to you and your family. Zeke was my barber and friend since he and your mother opened their barber shop on Oak Bay Ave (the one with the stove in the middle of the floor). From there to the farm it has been a relationship I have valued and the memories of my time in the chair are fond ones which I will always remember. We shared experiences, and for many years he supplied corn and eggs. He was old school: a man with values, a lover of family, a hard worker, and he will be missed but fondly remembered.
